Tims, Inc has raised over $49,000 for charity this year, and is continuing their efforts with the Fall Sizzler event. The auction house will ask in-person attendees to make a $10 donation that will go to St. Jude Children’s Resarch Hospital, in memory of Peter W. Chapulis, Tim’s late father.

Stevens Auction Company to Host Prominent Estates Sale


UP TO 1,000 QUALITY ANTIQUES FROM NUMEROUS PROMINENT ESTATES AND COLLECTIONS WILL BE SOLD SAT., JUNE 23, BY STEVENS AUCTION COMPANY

The multi-estate sale will be held at Stevens Auction Company’s showroom, in Aberdeen, Miss.

(ABERDEEN, Miss.) – Up to 1,000 quality lots of merchandise, culled from numerous prominent estates and collections, will be sold Saturday, June 23, at 9 a.m. (CST), by Stevens Auction Company, in the firm’s gallery located at 609 North Meridien Street in Aberdeen.  An open house preview will be held Friday, June 22, from 10-7, and on auction day from 8-9 a.m.

Headlining the auction will be the estates of Dr. Lana Silverthorn and Dr. Patricia Stephens (both deceased, from Magnolia Springs, Ala., and both former longtime professors at the University at Southern Alabama). Also offered will be prominent estates from Atlanta, Ga., and Birmingham, Ala., plus other consignments. New items were still pouring in at press time.

“This will be a monumental mid-summer estate auction, and it’s getting bigger every day,” said Dwight Stevens of Stevens Auction Company. “New pictures are continually being added to our website, so the best advice I can give to bidders is to log on tostevensauction.com.” There will be no Internet bidding for the auction, but phone and absentee bids will be accepted.

Sold will be marvelous period furniture pieces (by such renowned American makers as J.H. Belter, J. & J.W. Meeks and R.J. Horner), an exceptional fine art collection, a large collection of music boxes, early 19th century lighting, antique handmade rugs, sterling silver, Old Paris porcelains, brilliant cut glass pieces, old wicker (signed Hayward Wakefield) and more.

The John H. Belter furniture pieces will include a rosewood rococo parlor suite with a sofa, love seat, side parlor chairs and arm chair, beige in color, all in the Rosalie With Grapes pattern; a rosewood rococo laminated parlor side chair in the fountain elms pattern with green and gold silk upholstery; and an armchair and side chair in the Rosalie Without Grapes pattern.

Fans of J. & J. W. Meeks will be impressed by the signed rosewood rococo dressing table with acanthus carved base and mirror, made circa 1850 and measuring 55 inches tall by 24 inches wide. An R. J. Horner lot of note is the true partner’s desk with drawers and a door on both sides, in original mint condition and with extensive carving, including griffins (circa 1890).

Other period furniture pieces will feature an oversized walnut Victorian cylinder roll secretary desk with burl trim, 114 inches tall, in mint condition (circa 1860); a rosewood rococo parlor cabinet with bird’s-eye maple top, 56 inches tall (circa 1850); and a mahogany Federal love seat with beautiful scrolled arms and gold upholstery with claw feet, made around 1830.

\Vases and urns will include a magnificent pair of Old Paris vases, palace-sized, depicting a French Victorian lady and gentleman, in great condition and boasting great color, 29 inches tall (circa 1870); a pair of monumental 19th century Royal Vienna two-part urns, 42 inches tall; a large Sevres urn with bronze handles and faces, with original cap and artwork, signed and marked on the bottom (circa 1880); and a pair of Old Paris vases, 18 inches tall, white with gold trim and having good paint showing a gorgeous floral scene, manufactured circa 1860.

Artwork will feature an oil on canvas portrait of Horace P. Brown (1801-1883), the cousin and personal assistant of Joseph E. Brown, the governor of Georgia during the Civil War; a large and important 18th century English painting of Mary Lady Hussey with a dog, 5 feet by 4 feet; a large oil on canvas marine rendering of a port and lighthouse, signed Franz Schaffner, 78 inches by 58 inches, dated 1901,  in the original Victorian gold frame; and a large oil on canvas marine work titled Mutiny at Sea (circa 1860), in a gold Victorian frame, 77 inches by 61 inches.

Vintage music boxes will include an extremely rare Lauter orchestral nickelodeon in a mahogany case; an ornate inlaid cylinder rosewood and satinwood music box; a 15-cylinder, 7-drum inlaid music box with bells; a fine 15.5-inch Regina disc music box on its rare original stand, with seven cylinders; and a walnut inlaid interchangeable cylinder music box with three cylinders. Also sold will be a coin-op upright piano.

Silver sets will include an 84-piece flatware service by Reed & Barton in the Frances First pattern; and a 137-piece Gorham flatware 12-place service in the Strasbourg pattern, made circa 1920 and having a total weight of 164.7 troy ounces. Estate jewelry will feature a dazzling ladies’ diamond and sapphire white gold cocktail ring.

Antique clocks will feature a magnificent grandfather clock that was a grand prize winner at the St. Louis World's Fair in 1904; and a Black Forest mantel clock with mountain goats, 22 inches tall, circa 1880.

Rounding out some of the day’s expected top lots are a circa 1900 bird’s-eye maple harp, signed Browne and Buckwell, Makers (N.Y., No. 3351), with gold and green trim; a circa 1870 Victorian over-the-mantel mirror with heavily carved base, 96 inches tall, with a broken arch pediment top with urn and ram’s heads; an important pair of rare Baccarat and gilt oil lamps, 2 feet tall; and a life-size 19th century carved and paint-decorated wood blackamoor figure.

Terms of sale will be cash, major credit cards, pre-approved checks with proper ID, or wire transfer. A 15 percent buyer’s premium will be charged on the total purchase price, with a 2 percent processing fee for credit cards. Gordon S. Converse & Co. Auction

OVER 400 LOTS OF ANTIQUE CLOCKS, ASIAN OBJECTS, FINE ART, VINTAGE TOYS AND MORE WILL BE SOLD THURSDAY, MAY 24th, BY GORDON S. CONVERSE & CO.

The auction will be held at the Peoples Light & Theater Company in Malvern, Pa., at 10:30 a.m.

(MALVERN, Pa.) – Over 400 quality lots of important antique clocks, Asian objects, fine art, toys and toy trains, period furniture, Native American and African objects, decorative accessories and porcelain will be sold at auction Thursday, May 24, by Gordon S. Converse & Company, at the Peoples Light & Theater Company in Malvern, starting at 10:30 a.m. (EST).

Previews will be held on Wednesday, May 23, from 10-2, and on Thursday, May 24, from 8:30-10:30 a.m., when the first gavel comes down. Online bidding will be available, and phone, write-in and absentee bids will also be accepted. The Peoples Light & Theater Company is located at 39 Conestoga Road in Malvern, in eastern Pennsylvania.

Bidders may preview the lots online, at the Gordon S. Converse & Company website (www.auctionsatconverse.com). Antique clocks – a specialty of Gordon S. Converse & Co. -- will be offered in abundance, and the collection of nearly 50 toys will feature numerous trucks and cars, airplanes and railroad trains. Chinese arts and porcelains were pouring in at press time.

The fine arts category will be highlighted by more than 25 oil paintings and some larger landscapes from a single consignor. Ethnic pieces will include African tribal arts and Native American arrowheads and pottery. Furniture will feature a Massachusetts tambour desk and an early 20th century English mahogany corner cupboard with cabinet top section and glazed doors.

Antique clocks are certain to attract keen bidder interest. Lots to watch include an early 19th century double steeple form mantel clock with fusee clockworks and strap brass movement plates, 23 ½ inches in height; and a mahogany veneer so-called “pillar-and-scroll” clock with an interior label identifying the maker as Seth Thomas, with brass finials, 29 inches without finial.

Also offered will be a sheep's head-type single-hand lantern clock with an engraved brass case, in which the chapter ring is signed “Steph. Levitt, Chelmsford,” with three dolphin frets (one engraved) and a clockworks with an hour strike; and a fine Regency “bracket” clock (or chamber timepiece) with a solid mahogany case, nice Egyptian-style feet and a pineapple finial.

Artwork will include a framed oil painting titled Stravanger Fjord, signed indistinctly (possibly by “H. Lyber”), 36 inches by 52 inches; a framed oil on canvas landscape signed lower left by “H. Wolff,” 18 ½ inches by 28 inches; a landscape work signed by the Danish artist Otto Balle (1865-1916); and an impressionist oil on canvas by Auguste Deneken, framed, dated 1943.

Oriental objects will be highlighted by a pair of rosewood carved, Chinese-made stands, 29 inches by 11 inches (circa 1840); a fine pair of poly-glazed decorated Chinese reticulated plates; and a davenport service consisting of a serving platter and eight matching plates, in a design that honors the palette and forms of many Chinese export items during the 19th century.

Antique toys will include a German sedan called the “Baron” in very good to excellent condition, made by Blech-Spielman; a mostly plastic and finely detailed model of a Mercedes Benz touring car, about 27 inches in length; a silver tri-engine toy airplane, 20 inches long; and a metal toy sedan from the mid-20th century, 20 inches long and still with the original green paint.

Trains will feature an OO gauge train set by Markel with a transformer, tracks, buildings and train car accessories; and a set of Hornby-type trains, including four wind-up lithographic decorated locomotives and other cars. Also offered will be a Quapaw Native American vase, 10 inches tall, found in Phillips County, Ark., with original vivid polychrome paint and item shards.
