From Local Bidders to Global Markets, Bright Star Shines

Bright Star Antiques owner Jay Shearer is an avid AuctionZip user. However, Jay was skeptical of online auctions when the idea was first presented to him by Chris Adair, his IT Manager. “It took me a while to convince him that he would be able to boost prices by having online bidders,” Chris said.

A short two years later, AuctionZip Live! has catapulted Bright Star into a competitive global market. “We even have clients in Tokyo who bid,” says Jay. What’s more, Jay has discovered that local attendees are willing to increase their bids against these online bidders.  AuctionZip Live! “certainly pushes in-house bidders to bid more,” he says.

Chris has noticed that the unparalleled convenience of AuctionZip Live! is increasing the total number of bids, especially from interested locals who are unable to attend an auction in person. “They end up bidding online because they can’t be there on auction day.”  For Jay and Bright Star, more bids and increased competition for items equals “a higher profit margin for consigners.” “I think that for the consigner, you must expose every option you can.  Online auctions are an important one.”

Now, after conducting nearly 20 live, online auctions since June 2010, Jay is convinced that AuctionZip Live! really works. “I don’t think I would do an auction today without AuctionZip Live! Our prices are up across the board.”

Chris added that in the end, it was easy to get started. “Setting up AuctionZip Live! was easy. The console is by far the most user friendly. I was running live auctions in no time.”
